Things You Should Know About Invisalign

Are you considering Invisalign as a solution for straighter teeth? You're not alone.

Invisalign has become an increasingly popular alternative to traditional metal braces, offering a more discreet and comfortable option for orthodontic treatment. But before you commit, there are some things you should know. In this blog post, we'll explore the ins and outs of Invisalign, including how it works, what to expect during treatment, and tips for maintaining your aligners.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a clear, removable orthodontic treatment that uses a series of custom-made aligners to gradually move your teeth into the desired position. The aligners are made of a flexible, thermoplastic material that is designed to fit snugly over your teeth. As you progress through the treatment, you will switch to a new set of aligners every few weeks to continue the progress of straightening your teeth.

Who is it for?

Invisalign is an effective treatment for most people who have mild to moderate orthodontic issues. It can be used to correct a variety of dental problems, such as overcrowding, gaps between teeth, and crooked or misaligned teeth. However, Invisalign is not suitable for everyone, and your dentist or orthodontist will need to evaluate your specific case to determine if it is the right treatment for you.

What does the procedure involve?

The first step in the Invisalign process is a consultation with our team at Erin Hills Dental. They will evaluate your teeth and determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign. If so, they will take impressions of your teeth and use them to create a custom treatment plan.

Once your treatment plan is ready, you will receive your first set of aligners. You will wear them for 20-22 hours a day, removing them only to eat and brush your teeth. You will switch to a new set of aligners every few weeks as your teeth move into the desired position. The length of treatment varies depending on your specific case, but most people complete Invisalign treatment in 12 to 18 months.

During the treatment, you will need to visit our office in Erin every 4-6 weeks to monitor your progress and receive new aligners. Once you have completed the treatment, you will wear a retainer to ensure that your teeth remain in the desired position.

If you are considering Invisalign, be sure to schedule a consultation with our team at Erin Hills Dental to determine if it is right for you, answer your questions and discuss treatment options.
